BA made a big error last week. They sent out an email informing the passengers that their flights have been cancelled.Those passengers had to rebook their flights discovering that their previous ones have been reinstated afterwards. So what happened to the Bristih Airways staff? Let’s have a look.

The last couple of weeks have been really busy for the British airline company due to the strike of the pilots that will take place in the following weekends of September. So BA sent an email in error informing the passengers about their cancelled flights. Most of them decided to book a new flight spending money and rearranging their holidays or business trips. After a while those passengers received another email saying that their flights have been reinstated. So the previous email was an error.

BA apologised for any concern caused and invited all those passenger that booked new flights to get in touch with them to sort this out. Let’s have a look at some passengers’ experiences. Josh Sullivan has now two tickets to fly back to London from Prague because after receiving the email he decided to book a return flight with Ryanair. He has now two tickets and he is £180 out of pocket. Josie Simpson tried to call BA 67 times to try to rebook a family holiday to Florida. They don’t know if they have lost the entire holiday or not. They have book in advance and saved money for ages for this holiday and now they don’t know if they can actually fly to Florida.

British Airways cancelled flights in error: what to do if your flight has been affected by the strike

BA explained that there could still be some disruption to flights on 8, 11 and 12 September. They are trying to do their best to deal with all the queries. They carry 145,000 customers every day with a fleet of more than 280 aircraft and a BA plane takes off from somewhere in the world every 90 seconds. If your flight has been affected by the strike you can request a full refund or rebook your flight for another time in the next 355 days.

In addition, you can also use the value of your ticket to fly to a different destination. When a flight has been cancelled because airline staff are striking you have the legal right to request a full refund, get another flight for the same destination or a replacement for a different location. Furthermore, in some cases passenger may be entitled to additional cash compensation for the inconvenience. This can happen only if you receive notice less than 14 days before departure.
