Frankfurt is the fifth largest city in Germany and one of the most important cities in the world according to its financial centres. Not only Frankfurt airport is the 4th airport in Europe but the 13th busiest airport in the world. It is in these positions for the traffic of passengers that every day land or take off from the German airport. In 2017 Frankfurt Airport had 64.500 million passengers.

This happens because the airport serves more than 300 destinations in 5 continents. So, according to some statistics Frankfurt airport is the airport with the most direct routes in the entire world! This is a great achievement for a European airport. This depends also on the fact that Frankfurt airport is the main hub for Lufthansa, Lufhansa CiryLine and Cargo. The airport has two terminals that are able to have more than 65 million passengers per year. Frankfurt airport is also the busiest airport in Europe by cargo traffic.

When the major air base for the United States was closed the airport had the chance to expand itself. This gave the opportunity to have more space for flights and passengers.

How to get to Frankfurt airport from the city center

Frankfurt airport is 12 km far from the city center. It is possible to reach the aiport through two of the most heavily used motorways in Europe that are A3 and A5. The connection by train is also very good. Let’s have a look at the option to reach the ariport by train or by bus.

It is very easy and fast to get to Frankfurt airport by train. There are two train stations. You can get to the center in 11 minutes using the lines S8 and S9. The destination will be the main train station in Frankfurt. There are trains available every 15 minutes. The first train is at 4.17 am and the last one at 1.32 am. The cost of the single ticket is 4.95 euro. From the train station located under Terminal 1 you can also get to other major German cities.

Outside the Terminal 1 there are different buses that can lead you in different part of the city. It depends on your final destination. Another way to get to the city center from the airport is by taxi. There are taxi available 24/7. If you go from the city center to the airport is better to give to the taxi driver the name of the airline company so that he can lead you directly to the right terminal. The journey lasts 30 minutes according to the traffic. There isn’t a fixed price but it is not really expensive as it is in other European cities.
